Making your e-mail life easier :)

I wrote a short tip on clearing e-mails once a week last weekend on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/AnamayaLifeCoaching) and it seems to have struck a chord with a few people so am writing a longer blog on a few ways of how I am making my e-mail life easier and hopefully it will do the same for you:)

1. Turn off the sound indication that an e-mail has arrived in your inbox. The sound will distract you away from whatever it was you were working on, even if you do not check your inbox immediately.

2. If you can, have an e-mail time daily of when you check and reply to e-mails -this way you do not constantly check and reply during the day.

If it is too short for you to just have one hour during the day, then do one hour/30 mins in the morning and one hour/30 mins in the evening.

3. Do a weekly deep cleanse if any e-mails are still in your inbox which need replying to, need filing or just need deleting.

4. When you have set aside e-mail time, it will be easier for you to reply back immediately to an e-mail when you have read it instead of dealing with it later.

5. If there is nothing you can do with the e-mail, i.e. a marketing e-mail/offer you do not want, then delete it straight away and stop it clogging your inbox and cluttering your mind :)

6. Once you have replied to an e-mail then file it.

Review your filed e-mails monthly/quarterly to make sure your computer is working at the optimal speed and you do not have too many saved e-mails which are slowing the computer down.

7. If you are subscribed to too many e-mail newsletters and do not get the chance to read them, then unsubscribe. If that person/newsletter is meant to be in your life, you will get the chance to subscribe again in the future.

I hope these tips help you a bit and if you have your own, then please do add them to the comments – it is always good to know what people do to simplify their e-mail lives and this can help everyone:)

Thoughts on a quote

In CategoryGeneral, Realising your dreams, positive thinking
ByBindi

‘To change skins, evolve into new cycles, I feel one has to learn to discard. If one changes internally, one should not continue to live with the same objects. They reflect one’s mind and psyche of yesterday. I throw away what has no dynamic, living use.’ Anais Nin, novelist.

I read this quote and thought this is not something we immediately think of. We change ourselves internally all the time via growth by reading, becoming more aware via meditation and the studies we embark on. But when changing ourselves internally, do we ever think of our external environment and whether there are changes to be made which could benefit us? Or do we just live with the same belongings, eat the same food and wear the same clothes? We are constantly evolving and it is only necessary that our external world as well as our internal world should be evolving too. If we cannot discard and let things go, then our growth internally can also not flourish as well as it could have if we had also looked at our physical environment and made some changes.

I hope this quote has also made you think. I would love to hear some comments.

Comments on a study

ByBindi

I thought I would add my comments on the article published by a science journal on the ‘fact’ that thinking negatively can boost your memory!

Here is the full article: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20091102/thl-life-us-mood-memory-b2e59e8.html#share

There are parts which I do agree with but it does not necessarily mean they are good for the person. For example the study says that people in a negative mood pay more attention to their surroundings than positive people. This is very true, but the more attention you are paying to things which are external to what you can be responsible for or change, the unhappier you will be. You cannot truly be living YOUR life to the fullest if you are focusing on what others are doing!

The study also says that positive people promote creativity, which I agree with. The more positive someone is the easier it is for the mind to be relaxed and be able to think creatively and outside the box or any boundaries which are put upon them.

The final point which I cannot agree on is that people in a bad mood do not make snap decisions! I have never known this to be true. Most people’s snap decisions are made when they are in a bad mood and not thinking straight.

What do you think about the article? I thought it was great to see another perspective and of course there are always good and bad moods and happy and sad times for everyone. Please do feel free to comment and I would love to hear your views.

Life is precious

I hope everyone is having a good start to the week.

Last week was a bit turbulent for me as my aunt passed away and it made me think of life and how we must all make the most of it. We never know how long or how short our life may be, but if we make each moment count and each moment precious it will be the best it can be. So I’d like to highlight a few points on how to make each moment count :)

1. Love what you do. Whether you are doing your dream job or in the processs of taking steps to do it, love it. If you are a full time mother and housewife, love that you make your home happy for your family and can care for them. If you are the breadwinner, love that you can provide for your family so that they get the best they can.

2.  Don’t think of your value as your job title, but what you are giving to the world. Does your job title really matter? Think of the value you are giving to others and what enjoyment they have from being in your presence. These are the things which people like about others and remember; people rarely remember a job title.

3. Tell your loved ones often that you love them and what they mean to you. Bring more love into your life and into others by being open and generous with your love. This means telling your partner often that you love them and telling your children and family.

These are three short, quick ways of making your moments more precious. Go out and enjoy today, meet a friend or have a relaxing bath. Do something you love.

Please do feel free to add your own ways of making life precious in the comments and I hope to connect with you soon,

Gratitude

In CategoryAchieving Dreams, General, Realising your dreams, news, positive thinking
ByBindi

I did my yoga routine this morning to a clip from www.yogatoday.com and it was titled ‘an attitude of gratitude’ and my article for Magnify You this month has also been on gratitude so I thought it was the right topic for today’s post.

What are you grateful for? Can you name three things right now and really feel the gratitude you have. My feelings on gratitude stem from the ‘law of attraction’ in that what we think, we get more of….so if we are grateful about the things in our lives, the more likely we are to get more of them.

In order to really know our gratitude it is important to be conscious and aware of every moment of our lives. To take the time to look at nature and be grateful for the seasons and flowers budding… leaves changing colours…the moon cycles. The more in the moment and the present you can live or let yourself live, the more you will find to be grateful for. If you find yourself continuously looking at the past to past events which have made you unhappy…that unfortunately is what you will get more of. Also do not worry about the future; the better you can make your present mind and attitude, the better your future will be naturally.

So please take the time out today and think of three things you are grateful for and if you can write them down and see them daily for a few days and then write some more :)

Today I am grateful for my loving husband Jay, our beautiful house by the sea and the wonderful, new friends we ‘re making in the area.

Have a wonderful day,

Networking meetings

In CategoryGeneral, Meditation Courses
ByBindi

Hello Everyone,

I’ve just got back from a networking group and full of business ideas and enthusiam! I always find meetings so helpful when you are a sole trader and usually work by yourself. It is a great opportunity to meet other business people in similar situations to yourself. I have recently joined the Athena Network which is a women’s networking group. They have monthly meetings and wonderful business skills talk which help your business to grow. Please do ask me if you’d like more information on the Athena Network in the East Sussex area and you can come along to one of the meetings to try it out. Or go to www.theathenanetwork.com.

I still have places available for the Sat workshops and am also taking bookings for the meditation classes starting in May. 5 week from 11th May: Increase Energy and 5 week from 13th May Learn to Relax. Come along and try a new skill which will focus and relax you!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone…

Hello Everyone,

Just getting ready to watch my team Liverpool play football!!  I started following them when I lived in Frankfurt, Germany and I do try to watch the games when I can.

I am getting into the swing of things this week but I apologise for not sending out e-mails to those who have expressed an interest in the workshops with all the admin details yet. I will do so soon, I promise!

I have my Athena new member training tomorrow morning which should be very good. The Athena network is a women’s networking group and is a great way to meet other women in business and also network your services to people who may be interested and also thus let their networks know. I love it!

Anyway better get to watch the game. I hope you all had a lovely Easter and are getting back intot he swing of things too!
