Heal Your Body Meditation Course

Hello Everyone,

Just about to start my meditation course  ‘Heal Your Body’. I’m going to be focusing on the root or muladhara chakra today; this is the chakra at the base of the spine and is beneficial for poor circulation and lack of energy. It is also good to meditate on this chakra to alleviate pain in the legs, hips and feet. On an emotional level, this chakra is good at reducing selfishness, fear, poor motivation and a lack of assertiveness. Can’t wait to begin and teach everyone how to bring more balance into their lives!!

If you would like to know more about the classes or even if you are too far to attend physically please contact me. I am putting together an online forum on meditation so would love to hear from you.

Lots of love,

Breath Meditation

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been teaching a few meditation classes at Oceans Wellbeing Centre in Rottingdean, close  to where I live in Saltdean. It has made me realise that it does not matter if we are accomplished at meditation or are just starting, a simple breath meditation always does a world of good!

So here is one for you:

Sit comfortably, make sure you are warm as the body will cool when it relaxes. Close your eyes and just be still in the moment to start with. Then begin to focus on the breath. Start taking deep abdominal breaths and imagine the air coming into the whole of the body. Inhale and exhale just through the nose always taking deep breaths and being aware of the breath which is coming in and that which is leaving.  Sit for as long as you want to in this breath meditation.

When coming out of the meditation, start focusing on the body and moving the hands and feet. Stretch out if you want to. Open your eyes and become aware of the environment. Try to keep focused on your breath for the rest of the day. Enjoy this meditation and enjoy the day.

Lots of love,

Introduction to Meditation

In CategoryMeditation
ByBindi

There are lots of views surrounding meditation and what it is and what it isn’t. It is thought of as a religious practice or as  a spiritual practice. It can in fact be both or be neither. We can meditate on a religious object, on a chant or even whilst walking.

Basically meditation is the practice of calming the mind. We try to calm the mind in order to heighten stillness, awareness and relaxation in the person. Most of the time our mind is not still; it is full of to-do lists and constantly focusing on the next thing which we need to do. Meditation helps us still the busy mind and focus on the now. When we live in each moment and are not rushing to the next in such haste, we are more confident and happier.

Some benefits of meditation:

  • Reduces stress
  • Reduces anxiety attacks
  • Builds self-confidence
  • Regulates high blood pressure
  • Increases serotonin
  • Increases concentration
  • Aids relaxation

As you can see there are a lot of documented benefits to meditation and it is a great ‘art’ to try and achieve. If you are interested in learning some meditation or continuing your practice, please contact me about the classes. I am also planning an online meditation course and daily meditations so please sign onto my newsletter for news of these or keep checking back!

Have a wonderful day, Bindi x
